NBA Champion, Kyrie Irving is taking over in Dallas. Although the Dallas Cowboys are out of contention for the Super Bowl, the Dallas Mavericks may bring another title to DFW. Kyrie Irving has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Kyrie will have his sidekick Luka Doncic. What will happen to teams in the west? Teams have had trouble with Luka as he’s been posting 60 point triple doubles. How will they stop these two? Kyrie Irving is a combo guard with the ability to play point or shooting guard ala Allen Iverson. Luka, representing for Slovenia has made an enormous impact in The Americas. Luka’s shooting ability has kept Dallas’ NBA title hopes alive.
Will Ben Simmons rise up? Fans have been waiting to see Ben Simmons perform to his ability. According to ESPN, “The Mavericks are sending Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, an unprotected 2029 first-round pick and second-round picks in 2027 and 2029 to the Nets in exchange for Irving and Markieff Morris.” Simmons now has two players to help run his drive and kick offense. The 6’10 point guard has shown flashes reminiscent of Magic Johnson and Brooklyn is anticipating a major leap.
Georgia defensive back Javon Bullard made a name for himself. Javon played high safety when he needed to, and robber and made the play for his team.
Georgia played sound football. TCU did not make good base defensive calls. For example they play 3 safeties; there base defense needs to be man -3 high. They failed to make the correct reads. There defensive linemen seemed to have poor hand technique which gave Georgia ample time to make reads. Aggressive press man coverage with sound technique will clear the holes they gave up. Linebackers were filling the wrong gaps. The will linebacker sees a down block and does not step up and fill the whole. As a backer your job is simple fill the whole move fast and hit whomever has the ball. TCU Linebackers are making crossover steps instead of shuffling. The TCU Georgia game was not a showcase of SEC dominance, but a lack of in game awareness by the players. You have corners opting not to press in 4th and 5 situations with a safety over the top. What do you think the receiver’s going to run? A slant. You’re on the wide side of the field. This game came down to awareness. Congratulations to both teams for a great season. Their knowledge of the game must grow.

Major Programs
Why do players need trainers? Major programs do not change coaches often. Players within that program have time to develop, bond with coaches, and succeed. Schools with losing records change coaches often. When the coaches change the players suffer as they miss time to develop.
Do you have to play for a powerhouse program to be recruited? No. Dominant players play in the playoffs. What are your goals? Smaller school programs 1A – 4A allow players to shine. In 5A- 7A there is more competition on the field.
Player’s corner:
You can make it from any school. What’s the key to being recruited? Domination. Make every play a highlight.
Coach’s corner: How to develop winning programs? Train your athletes. Exploit other team’s weak players. Recruit players within the school. Have your players recruit other players. Example: Take the 6’7 basketball player and throw the ball up to him vs the 5’7 cornerback. If your school has a magnet program, get players to enroll into the magnet program; so, they can be successful once their playing days are over. Have a vision for your athletes. Speed, size, and strength.
Building a program?
When your team is better it will be harder to key on your star player. Allow your key players to play in all three phases (offense, defense, and special teams). Rotate in your star player every 5 plays, or on key downs such as 3rd down. When in doubt? Play him at the wildcat.
5 star – ATH. Athletically superior to talent around them. Has rare size, speed, power, agility combination.
4 star – Very good athlete. Has good speed, power, and agility combination.
3 star – Good athlete. Can develop into a more explosive athlete in the future; 2-3 years to develop.
2 star – Athlete that will take 4 years to develop into a superior athlete.
1 star- Athlete needs 5 years to develop into an elite player.
Do teams need all 5 stars?
Technique, scheme, and training can allow a player to do the things you want from them.
How can you find gems? Watch the team around the player. Many athletes can be found playing different sports. For example, you may find big sprinters in track and field, track well to football. Athletes in track and field normally play other sports. They typically have the explosion that you’re looking to incorporate into your team.
